Padstow May Day
1 May

May Day (or 'Obby 'Oss Day as it is known) is the biggest day in Padstow's calendar. It is not unusual to see 30,000 people crammed into this little town on the day when Padstonians from all over the world return to their roots. The origins of the Obby Oss are numerous. Some say the celebration has its roots in pagan times, others that it's a rain maker, a fertility symbol, a deterrent to a possible landing by the French some centuries ago or perhaps a welcome to the summer.

JP Morgan Asset Management Finn Festival 2012
4 May – 18 May

A two-week sailing spectacular the regatta includes the Finn British Open Championships and the Finn Gold Cup with exciting shoreside events for spectators.

The two-week regatta will include the Finn British Open Championships and the Finn Gold Cup. The Finn Gold Cup is the annual World Championship of the Finn Class, with a fleet of up to 100 boats from as many as 50 nations. During the regatta some of the sailors will be competing to win a place to represent their country at the Olympic Games.
