Where to head on those sunny days

Dry Days Out

The great thing about Glynn Barton is not only is there so much to do onsite, you’re also perfectly positioned to take full advantage of absolutely everything Cornwall has to offer! So let’s give you a few ideas on where to head if you’re wanting to get out and about on a sunny day.

Local Beaches

Various on the North/South Coast

One of the best things about Cornwall is the huge amount of beaches to choose from – our favourite is Daymer Bay (lots of rock pools). Others include Rock and Polzeath on the North Coast and Polkerris and Porthluney Cove at Caerhays Castle on the South Coast. There’s a map and book in the Play Room with descriptions of all the beaches in Cornwall so have a good read through and if you need a recommendation, just ask us!

Lanhydrock House

12 minute drive

A great spot for everyone. A beautiful house to explore, grounds to roam freely, and excellent adventures for the kids. Fab cycling trails including a balance bike track, skills area and to finish, a café serving Cornish cream teas and cake!

Fowey

20 minute drive

We love this beautiful little fishing village. Lots of little cafes for lunch on the harbour with a little aquarium for the kids. Take a boat trip up the river past Daphne du Maurier’s house, or a ferry over to Polruan on the other side of the river. Readymoney Cove is a lovely beach and a great picnic spot.

Bodmin and Wenford Railway

10 minute drive

We’re lucky to have Cardinham Woods literally on our doorstep which offers some of the best bike riding in the county through the forest. The Camel Trail is also a great choice for the whole family with easy riding all the way. It’s easy to hire equipment to accommodate toddlers at either of these with great stops for hot chocolates along the way.

Lost Gardens of Heligan

40 minute drive

A great day out for all to embrace the outdoors and take in some horticulture. They have a great program of activities for kids on and an abundance of space to run around. A great place to explore with hidden courtyards and beautifully landscaped kitchen gardens.
